Self-hosted IT tools
Lead with the runbook, not the feature list. A self-hosted tool is only a good fit when your team can deploy, secure, upgrade, monitor and restore it within the reliability target of the workload.
For infrastructure engineers, DevOps teams, SREs and organizations with data-location, network-isolation or change-control requirements.
The decision to make
Model the complete operating cost and failure path. Include compute, storage, backups, certificates, identity integration, upgrades and the engineering time needed to keep the service healthy.
