What is GitHub?
GitHub hosts Git repositories with pull requests, issues and code review, and adds GitHub Actions for CI/CD, GitHub Packages for package hosting, and GitHub Copilot for AI-assisted coding. It has been a subsidiary of Microsoft since 2018. Most teams use the hosted github.com service; GitHub Enterprise Server is a separate product for organizations that need on-premises or private-cloud deployment.
