Power BI's Direct Lake mode provides an optimized connection to OneLake and Fabric-hosted datasets that delivers near-real-time query performance without the complexity of traditional import or DirectQuery modes.

Microsoft Fabric, the company's unified analytics platform, positions Power BI as the analytics and reporting layer within a broader data platform that also includes Data Factory for ingestion, Synapse Analytics for warehousing, Data Science for machine learning, and Real-Time Analytics for streaming workloads, all sharing a unified OneLake storage layer.
