Koyeb

Koyeb is a serverless cloud platform designed for deploying web applications, APIs, background workers, and AI inference services globally without managing infrastructure. By combining the simplicity of serverless deployment with a globally distributed edge network, Koyeb enables developers to run applications close to users worldwide with automatic scaling and a developer-friendly experience.

The Koyeb deployment model supports two primary source types. Git-based deployments connect to GitHub repositories and trigger automatic builds and deployments when code is pushed. Koyeb automatically detects the application type and configures the build process for Node.js, Python, Go, Ruby, PHP, Java, and other common runtimes using Buildpacks. Docker-based deployments pull pre-built images from any container registry, providing compatibility with any application stack that can be containerized.

The global deployment model is central to the Koyeb value proposition. When deploying a service, developers can select multiple regions from Koyeb's network of data centers across the United States, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Koyeb deploys instances in all selected regions simultaneously and routes incoming requests to the closest available instance based on the user's geographic location, minimizing latency for a globally distributed user base.

Auto-scaling in Koyeb adjusts the number of running instances automatically based on traffic load. Instances scale up when request volume increases and scale down to zero when the service is idle, eliminating infrastructure costs during quiet periods. The scale-to-zero capability makes Koyeb particularly cost-effective for applications with unpredictable or variable traffic.

The Koyeb edge network handles load balancing, health checking, SSL termination, and traffic routing automatically. Custom domains can be configured with automatic Let's Encrypt certificate provisioning and renewal. DDoS protection and rate limiting are included at no additional cost.

Managed databases on Koyeb include PostgreSQL and Redis, with automatic backups, high availability, and connection pooling. Databases connect to application services through a private network, ensuring secure communication without exposing credentials or connection details to the public internet.

The Koyeb CLI provides a powerful command-line interface for managing deployments, viewing logs, scaling services, and managing environment variables. The REST API gives programmatic access to all platform capabilities for integration with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation tools.

Koyeb supports custom build contexts, Docker Compose conversions, and environment-specific configurations, making it practical for teams to migrate existing containerized applications to the platform. The Koyeb App Registry provides a collection of one-click deployment templates for popular open source applications.
