Nagios XI uses the Nagios Core monitoring engine and adds a web interface, wizards, dashboards and reporting. Product choice matters: a Core deployment and an XI deployment have different setup and support expectations.

Use Nagios when a team needs explicit checks for devices, services and application availability. Define check thresholds and who responds to each alert before expanding monitoring coverage.
A good pilot includes a real outage simulation and confirms that the alert arrives, has context and clears after recovery.
